Any help with this problem?

If you unfortunately encounter this issue during disk cloning, don't worry! It's not a significant problem, and there are several potential solutions to assist you.

Solutions

Run CHKDSK to check & repair source disk errors that might cause Macrium Reflect clone failure issue

1. Click 'Start' > 'All Programs' > 'Accessories', then click 'Command Prompt'.

2. Type 'chkdsk C: /r /f', replacing "C" with the letter of your source drive if it's different, and press Enter.

This command will initiate CHKDSK to conduct a comprehensive scan on the source disk, rectifying any errors, bad sectors, or corruption it encounters. Upon completion, restart your PC and attempt the cloning process again.

Since chkdsk doesn't always detect and fix all disk issues, it's possible that Macrium Reflect still can't finish the disk cloning process.

Attempt an alternative software when Macrium Reflect clone fails post CHKDSK

Should that occur, we suggest you try using Disk Copy tools as an alternative solution for managing your disk cloning task. Equipped with the sector cloning feature, the program can effectively clone a hard drive with bad sectors.

Prior Notice:

  • The "Sector by sector copy" option requires the destination disk to be at least as large or larger than the source disk. If you want to clone a larger hard disk to a smaller one, do not check this feature.
  • All data on the destination disk will be completely wiped out, so proceed with caution.

Step 1. To begin copying/ cloning an entire disk to another, select this disk as the source disk under "Disk Mode" and click "Next".

select the source disk and click next

Step 2. Select the other disk as the destination disk.

select the destination disk

Step 3. Check the disk layout of the two disks. You can manage the disk layout of the destination disk by selecting "Autofit the disk", "Copy as the source", or "Edit disk layout".

click ok when a warning message appears
  • "Autofit the disk" makes default adjustments to the destination disk layout to optimize its performance.
  • "Copy as the source" preserves the layout of the source disk without making any changes to the destination disk.
  • "Edit disk layout" enables you to manually adjust and resize partitions on the destination disk according to your preferences.

Tick the "Check the option if the target is SSD" option to optimize your SSD for peak performance.

A message will now appear, cautioning you about potential data loss. Please acknowledge this message by clicking "OK," and then proceed by clicking "Next."
