Frequently Asked Questions about Cloning Dynamic Disk Volume

For more information about cloning dynamic volumes, see this topic and look for answers there:

< strong > Why can't I clone a dynamic disk?

The reason why you can't directly clone a dynamic disk is that the target disk is a basic disk, and most cloning software can't convert a basic disk to a dynamic disk during the cloning process.

Therefore, to clone a dynamic disk, you need to convert the target basic disk to dynamic first. Then use disk cloning software to clone the dynamic disk.

2. Can I clone HDD to SSD?

Yes, of course. You can clone HDD to SSD directly as long as the SSD has storage capacity equal to or greater than the amount of data used on the source HDD.

How to convert dynamic disk to basic disk?

    • Launch Partition Master, right click on the dynamic disk and choose “Convert to Basic Disk”. • Click “Execute Task”.
