"How do I transfer an ArcGIS Pro license? One of our ArcGIS Pro desktop users has left the organization, and another person wants to use that license. How do I deactivate it from the previous user's computer and activate it on the new user's computer?"

"I need to move my ArcGIS 10.5 software from one computer to another. How can I migrate my ArcGIS 10.5 from one PC to another? I just bought a new computer, can you assist me with this?"

Have you encountered such issues when transferring licenses or moving the program to another computer? You can use the Todo PCTrans Pro tool to migrate ArcGIS to another PC. Todo PCTrans is a program migration tool that guides you in transferring files, applications, and accounts from one Windows PC to another. Download the free trial version and choose your transfer mode.

In addition, you'll see other useful tools—the ArcGIS License Manager, for example, which you can use to manage your ArcGIS licenses.

ArcGIS Authorization Types

Before you move the software, understand the licensing types for ArcGIS Desktop.

ArcGIS offers three licensing models:

    • Named user (ArcGIS only): A named user license applies only to ArcGIS Pro and is the default license type for ArcGIS Pro. Other license types are available but require license conversion through My Esri. • Single-use: A standalone license authorizes an individual to use ArcGIS Pro on one computer, such as a desktop. It cannot be used on a second computer. • Concurrent use: A concurrent use license allows multiple users to share access to ArcGIS Desktop (from any computer or virtual machine on the network, which can also include ArcGIS Pro).
