Cisco Webex is a platform for video calling and sharing. The cloud collaboration suite includes Webex Meetings, Webex Teams, and Webex Devices. Cisco's Webex Meetings software and the Cisco Spark team collaboration app have been merged into the Webex suite.
Cisco Webex is a solution that offers online meetings, group messaging, and file sharing. Businesses of all sizes, from small enterprises to large corporations, can benefit from this suite, which is considered one of the top collaboration platforms in the unified communications field.
Video conferencing can be accessed via desktop or mobile devices, and, though Webex has a web-based version, it lacks many of the features available on other platforms. Users can also exchange files and engage in team messaging.
Webex Meetings is Cisco's cloud-based platform for web and video conferencing, enabling real-time collaboration among global and virtual teams. It supports features such as screen sharing, recording, adjustable layouts, and broadcasting capabilities.
Webex Meetings offers customizable ad-hoc and scheduled meetings. Webex Teams users can schedule meetings, join Webex meetings, and continue the conversation after the meeting ends.
With this new feature, users can use their phone camera to scan a QR code to join a meeting from the Webex Meetings mobile app without disrupting or dropping from the meeting.
Now, Webex Meetings users on iPhone can multitask while they monitor a meeting window or the information shared.
This feature makes it easier to share applications in web meetings. Previously, when a user shared an app, they shared their entire screen, with parts of the screen outside the app window obscured. Now, when an application is shared, the recipient sees only the app window, not the entire desktop.
You can transfer an ongoing call from the desktop app to the mobile app on your device, so you can talk from anywhere. If you get a call while you're out and about, and then return to your office, you can also transfer the call from the mobile app to the desktop app.
Step 1: In the mobile app, under Calls, touch and select the Pull Call option.
Step two: The call is routed through software on your laptop to an app on your phone.
When you make a call from the Webex app and connect to your desk phone, the Webex app and your phone share the same phone number. Everything works over a single trunk. Because they're on the same line, you don't experience any disruptions when you switch between the app and the phone to answer a call.
If you make a call from the Webex App, your desk phone alerts you that you have an active remote call. Depending on your settings, you might be able to switch the call between the app and your desk phone.
This is an example of what Brandon would see on his phone when he's placed a call to Emma using the Webex app. Note that the exact information and softkeys displayed on your desk phone will vary depending on how it's configured, but the basic concept should be clear.
Step 1: You can put an incoming call on hold using the Webex app or desk phone.
Step 2: While on a call using the Webex app, select More and then choose Hold from the displayed menu.
Step 3: On your desk phone, press Resume.
Step 4: Or, open the Webex Meetings app on your device, and tap Restore.
End, hold, or transfer a call from the desktop app
Webex Meetings is available on mobile and desktop devices, and you can even move the app from one device to another, as long as you transfer important app data to the device that will open the app.

No, you can't run the Webex Meetings app on two devices at the same time. The app detects which device you're active on, or which one you've used in the last two minutes. It then identifies that device as the one where you're having or leading a meeting, and sends messages and notifications there.
