Samsung provides its own device management software to help users clone the hard drive data. Besides, these software programs are reliable since they are officially made by Samsung.
Two common Samsung cloning software are Samsung Magician and Samsung Data Migration. The advantage of these programs is that they're built into your Samsung M.2 SSD, so you don't need to install anything externally.
You can download Samsung Magician and Samsung Data Migration from the official Samsung website. These two utility tools allow you to optimize your Samsung SSD, monitor its health, protect your data, and manage drive cloning from an existing drive.
Samsung Data Migration (SDM) is an official disk cloning software by Samsung that aids in cloning your Samsung M.2 SSD. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to clone a Samsung M.2 SSD using the Samsung Data Migration software.
Step 1. Download Samsung Data Migration software from the official website and install it on your computer.
Step 2. Connect the new HDD or SSD to the computer you want to clone your Samsung M.2 SSD to.
Connect the SSD to your computer and launch Samsung Data Migration.
Step 3. Select the target drive you want to clone your Samsung M.2 SSD to.
The Samsung Data Migration tool will automatically detect all HDDs/SDDs connected to your computer. It will set the drive with the operating system installed as the source drive. You just need to select the target drive.
Step 4. Select the Samsung M.2 SSD volume you want to clone.
By default, the SDM will select only your C: drive. If you have multiple volumes on your current SSD, you must select them all.
5. After selecting the source and target drives, click “Start” to begin the cloning process.
Click **Start** to start cloning.
Samsung Data Migration is a tool that makes the cloning process straightforward. However, it has its limitations. It supports only a limited number of Samsung hard drive models. You also need a device with an operating system for SDM to detect it. Otherwise, you can't clone.
Due to these limitations, you may run into problems. However, there is no need to worry, as all of these limitations can be overcome by using the alternative approaches that will be discussed in the next section.
The worst thing about Samsung Clone Software is that it doesn't support cloning across different brand HDDs/SSDs. So unless both your drives are from Samsung and supported by the disk management tool, you can't clone them.
"HDD cloning tool"
Disk Copy Tool is an all-in-one solution to all limitations of Samsung cloning software. It supports cloning all brands of SSDs/HDDs. Besides, it also allows you to clone MBR to GPT and GPT to MBR.
Download the Disk Copy tool from the button below, and then use it to clone your Samsung M.2 SSD drive by following these steps:
Step 1: In the “Disk Mode,” select the HDD you want to clone.
Step 2: Select the SSD as the target disk.
A warning message appears, stating that the data on your SSD will be erased. If you don't have any important data on the target disk, click OK to proceed.
Step 3: Edit the disk layout if needed, and click “Continue” to proceed.
Since the target is an SSD, check the box for “If the target is an SSD, select this option.”
Step 4: Wait for the process to complete.
Move OS to Another Drive Without Reinstalling Windows
This article shows how to move operating system to new hard drive with a reliable cloning software - Disk Copy tool, saving installation time and hassle.
Samsung provides disk management utility software such as Samsung Magician and Samsung Data Migration. Both are straightforward tools that can help clone your Samsung M.2 SSD.
However, Samsung Data Migration has its fair share of limitations. It doesn't support cloning across brand disk/SSD. Besides, Samsung's proprietary disk management software supports a limited range of its storage drives only.
The best alternative to Samsung Clone Software is Disk Copy. It features a user-friendly interface and straightforward disk cloning procedures. Additionally, it supports cross-brand hard drive cloning and offers compatibility between MBR to GPT and GPT to MBR.
