Similar to basic disks, which are the most commonly used storage type on computers running Microsoft Windows, dynamic disks can utilize either the Master Boot Record (MBR) or the GUID Partition Table (GPT) partitioning scheme. All divisions on dynamic disks are referred to as dynamic volumes. It offers functionalities not available in basic disks, such as the capacity to create volumes that span across multiple disks (spanned and striped volumes), and the capability to create fault-tolerant volumes (mirrored and RAID-5 volumes).

Dynamic disks provide greater flexibility for volume management since they utilize a database to track information regarding dynamic volumes on the disk and other dynamic disks within the computer. The Todo Backup Enterprise tool can assist in successfully backing up dynamic disk volumes on your computer.

Tutorial for backing up dynamic disk volumes to an image:

1. Launch Todo Backup and click Disk/Partition Backup.

2. Choose the disk volumes to back up. Check the box for "Sector by sector backup" if needed. You can choose a single partition or multiple partitions across different disks as you wish.

3. Enter a Name and Description for your dynamic disk volume backup. By default, the name and description are generated based on the backup time and type.

4. Click the folder icon behind 'Destination' to choose the backup storage location. By default, the software will recognize the most appropriate partition as your destination, which can be modified.

5. Schedule backups for disks and partitions to be performed later, daily, weekly, monthly, or on specific events.

Note: Enter account and password with Administrator privileges to make the schedule take effect.

For detailed schedule examples, please refer to How to set up a backup schedule using Todo Backup tools?

6. Click Backup options and the following window will pop up, where you can set backup compression, password, splitting, and more.

7. Click on "Image Reserve Strategy," check "I will preserve image files," and set the number of days, weeks, months, or years to retain the images or the quantity of previous backup files you wish to keep. Additionally, you can opt to preserve the initial image.

8. Click Proceed to perform a backup of dynamic disks and volumes.
